Absent Due to Illness - Morning Session

I woke up feeling ill this morning so decided not to come into work. I decided to use this as an opportunity to see how I could practically support the covering member of staff to deliver the session using Twitter.

I asked the group to join me on Tweetwally where I invited them, initially, to refer to the CESIT Session Standing Orders and to tweet a "Hi", to give me an idea of who was present. I designated a hashtag #cesit293 for the session.

Those with an existing Twitter account readily responded. Some were reluctant to set one up.

Tweetwally seemed quite slow to update with either my tweets or those from students. VisibleTweets was quicker but the "rotation" visualisation lacked the logical layout of Tweetwally's tweetwall. Best seemed to be Twitter's own search results page using #cesit293.

Students forgetting to use the hashtag sometimes made their tweets more difficult to find and to archive.

Part of the planned activity involved responding to a simple survey using a Googledocs form but I linked from the spreadsheet, not the live form - my mistake.
