Personal Development Plans

We discussed the principles of goals and SMART targets as ways of making PDPs more workable. These ideas are outlined on the CESIT NodeMap.

It was explained that PDPs are dynamic documents which change as goals are achieved or problems encountered. PDPs, perhaps, work best when goals and SMART targets are planned and worked towards and progress is regularly reviewed.

We explored the usefulness of using a tiki-toki timeline to create a highly visual PDP which has some features in common with a Gantt chart.

Here's a 4 minute video from MindTools.com about Gantt charts. They do seem to get a bit excited!

Students also identified a problem in prioritising goals. Deciding what to do first. An urgent-important matrix can help with this.
